Genius Industries is proud to sponsor:

Since the MSA’s beginnings in 1961, we have been actively involved with the community we surf and live in - Malibu. Dating back to the early 60’s when the club founders hosted “Seat Belt” clinics (where MSA members would install these “new” devices into cars for residents) to the original “You have been helped by a member of the MSA” cards that were handed out whenever a good deed was done – The MSA has always worked towards creating a safe and healthy environment.

Today, the MSA actively supports the Malibu Community by hosting one of the largest and oldest Longboard Surfing contests in California – The Malibu Classic. The MSA Classic has roots dating back to 1961 and was the first surf contest ever to be televised. That history, combined with the thankless efforts of our members, the hundreds of competitors who travel from as far away as Hawaii, Australia and Japan in years past and the generous support of our sponsors has given the MSA the ability to support the community like no other club. On average, the MSA donates upwards of $15,000 annually to causes, which have a direct impact on our beach - Malibu, Surfrider. The majority of our contributions are directed to Heal The Bay and the Surfrider Foundation, Malibu Chapter. In addition, MSA and many of its members have made donations to the Malibu Legacy Park Project, a project aimed to limit further contamination of Surfrider Beach.

The MSA is currently gearing up for our annual fundraiser, The Classic scheduled for September 8th and 9th, 2007 at Surfrider Beach. During September, over 400,000 people visit Malibu Surfrider Beach. We anticipate our Malibu Classic to attract over 10,000 people with 400 of them being professional and amateur contestants from all over the country and world. In the past, we have had contestants from Hawaii, Japan and Australia.
